Continuing Education Series for Insurance Professionals

FREE seminar offerings — September 2009 Schedule

TUESDAY, September 15

Ethics for the Insurance Professional

9:00am-12 Noon (3 credits) Course # 00101207

This interactive course will introduce you to practical issues around ethics. You will learn about the "Fraud Triangle" and we will discuss the difference between ethics, morals and what role the law plays in all of this. Can ethics be legislated? Can ethics be taught? We will continue on with interactive review and discussions of ethical scenarios.

Smoke & Odor Damage Mitigation for Property Losses

1:00pm-4:00pm (3 credits) Course # 00101210

Fire is one of the most trying experiences your insureds will ever face. This course will discuss empathy and important knowledge about fire losses to help your insureds. We will cover how fires get started, prevention, specialty cleaning after the fire and the equipment needed to do cleanup. We will also cover the "science of smell."

WEDNESDAY, September 16

Questions and Answers in Mold & Water Claims

9:00am-12 Noon (3 credits) Course # 0010109

Most of the property claims that occur in an agency are water claims and their proper handling is a critical element in determining if your book of business meets profitability targets. Therefore, agents must understand the process for drying a structure and the lifecycle issues (including mold mitigation) that follow a water loss. This practical course will review how to work with a homeowner and carrier to smoothly handle water claims to keep expenses low for all.

Inventory and Evaluation for Property Losses

1:00pm-4:00pm (3 credits) Course # 00101208

In this class you will gain hands-on experience in all of the tools and tricks used to restore property. You will be stunned by what can be saved in what appears to be the most devastating of soot. You will also get hands-on training in odor removal. We will show you how to determine restorable from non-restorable property and how to compute replacement costs.
